Can you believe that Razorback football is less than two months away? We know it’s been pretty hot in Northwest Arkansas lately so we wanted to offer some thoughts about a time when it will be cooler (eventually!) and one of the most popular times in the region.

The first home game in the schedule is Sept. 3 against Louisiana Tech. Whether you’re an avid fan or prefer to avoid the crowds, you need to be prepared for Razorback football season. We used our own observations, research on various websites, and even student interviews to compile the best tips we could offer.

As the best-in-class logistics providers in Northwest Arkansas, it’s natural that the biggest aspect we notice is traffic. We love Razorback football so much in Arkansas that people start traveling to the game many hours before kickoff. Some show up in the wee hours of the morning to set up for tailgating, others just want to make sure they have plenty of time to park and make it through security to their seats.

The most congested traffic ways are I-49 southbound and most of the Fayetteville exits, especially Wedington Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard. MLK Blvd traffic starts getting congested many hours before the game, as does parts of Garland Avenue and Wedington Drive/North Street. If you’re headed to the game, most people recommend paying to park in a nearby parking lot and walking to the stadium. It will save lots of time and frustration in the long run!

Not a big football fan? Then we suggest finding ways to avoid these areas on game days, both before and several hours after the games. Consider alternate routes to arrive at your destination, such as taking Crossover north and taking Township or another road to reach other parts of Fayetteville.

Are you interested in purchasing tickets or tailgating? It doesn’t appear that the 2016 Game Day Guide for football has been distributed, but you can find it at this website when it becomes available. You can find traffic flow information, tailgating information, and ideas on parking.

Regardless if you’re a student walking to the stadium or a long-time fan driving in from out of town, we want to remind you about security measures. Large bags are not allowed and certain obvious items (weapons, outside food) are prohibited. The guide will have a full list of allowed and forbidden items.
