GIving Tuesday

It’s amazing what people can do when they join under a common cause, isn’t it? Four years ago, the concept of #GivingTuesday began as a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy throughout the entire year.

Giving Tuesday is always the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving and in 2015 falls on December 1.

The power of #GivingTuesday is harnessed via social media, which is why we sometimes refer to the event using its hashtag. We invite our friends, customers and colleagues to join us in celebrating Giving Tuesday by finding a meaningful way to give throughout the coming year.

Giving doesn’t have to necessarily be dollars and cents, although we know non-profit organizations appreciate every donation. Giving can come in the form of money, time, and talent.

Our On Time Logistics family encourages the business community to find ways to give. You can have employees volunteer as a team-building exercise at a myriad of nonprofit agencies. Or perhaps offer “jeans days” or other in-office fundraisers to support a favorite non-profit. Also, consider allowing individuals time to volunteer for organizations such as NWA SCORE, which mentors small business owners.

You can also use your business platform to encourage others to give, even if it’s something simple such as using Amazon Smile to shop online this year.

What we’re suggesting is more than just a single day. It’s creating a culture that looks out for others and creates a sense of thankfulness and giving all year.
