Halloween is a fun time of year for all ages because it includes dressing up in costumes and lots of yummy candy.
Safety is always, important so we thought we’d remind you of a few safety tips to make sure you have a fun Halloween.
As you know, our safety expertise at On Time Logistics centers around cars and traffic. So, while we encourage you to consider costumes for your children that are well-illuminated and easy to walk in, we will focus on traffic/street related safety.
Here’s a few tips:
- Don’t use your cell phone at all when driving through neighborhoods. Children will be walking in the streets and cars will be driving slowly and making sudden stops. Phone calls can wait (and it’s already illegal to text and drive).
- Make sure your kids know the rules of crossing the street safely.
- Consider going door-to-door with your children or making sure that a responsible adult or teenager goes with them.
- Don’t drink and drive. Ever.
- Be alert to the fact that people coming home from parties might have consumed alcohol. Protect yourself and children.
- Watch for kids going between cars or entering the roadway unexpectedly. They will be excited (and possibly filled with sugar) and might not be paying enough attention.
