Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? We look forward to spending time with our families and hope you have a blessed holiday.
Another holiday season tradition is Black Friday where people line up to get all the great deals at the big box stores. What we want to talk about today is a newer tradition, which is Small Business Saturday.
Founded five years ago, Small Business Saturday is exactly what its sounds. It’s the opportunity to celebrate small businesses in our local communities. It’s a chance to get away from the Thanksgiving leftovers and enjoy food at locally owned restaurants. It’s a day to walk with friends and family down rows of small businesses in downtown to see what great products they have to offer.
As consumers, we are a key part of making small businesses thrive. By “shopping small” we show our support for our community.
We encourage you to participate in this tradition on Nov. 28 this year. Take your friends, take your family. And share with your friends on social media by checking in at the stores you visit and using the hashtag #ShopSmall.
Are you a small business owner? Most of our clients fall into this category. We hope that you’ll dive into this opportunity wholeheartedly. Start now promoting your business hours on that Saturday. People can already find Black Friday sales, why not entice people with Small Business Saturday sale offers?
Last year, the Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey estimated that $14.3 billion was spent at independently owned restaurants and stores on Small Business Saturday last year. We at On Time Logistics want to challenge our Northwest Arkansas, Tulsa and Little Rock area communities to do their part to increase that for 2015.
